Rick

Served 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Army
Certified Service Disabled Veteran

Richard [Rick] Carr served in both the Marine Corps and U.S. Army. Rick was honorably discharged after 20 years service. Rick began his military career with the United States Marine Corps [USMC] in 1975. After graduating from the Defense Language Institute, Monterey CA., and other intelligence training schools, including Crypto, Soviet Russian Naval Radio/Telephone/Human Intelligence Expert, Rick was assigned to Edzell Scotland where he served as a radio voice interceptor/utility Russian linguist. This was followed by temporary duty assignment to serve at Camp LeJeune as troop handler; and then Naples, Italy as Sergeant of the Guard in London, England UK as a Training NCO. All work assignment activities revolved around, and were frequently interrupted by special missions. Upon leaving the USMC, Rick joined the Army in 1983, where he passed both Satellite Ground Station Repairer Course, Advanced Satellite Course and Instructor courses, before being stationed in the Republic of Panama at the Satellite Station. During this time, Rick continued to work intelligence, primarily supporting the Drug Enforcement Agency [DEA]. Upon returning to Fort Gordon, GA Rick worked as a Senior Instructor in Satellite Technology and Satellite Controller while he continued his extensive mission support serving DEA. Due to injuries sustained on a mission in South America, Rick spent his final two years as the U.S. Army Representative to the Harris Corporation to help industry develop new Satellite Terminal Equipment in Melbourne Beach, FL. Rick speaks Russian, German, Spanish and Italian. Rick is married to Elizabeth Carr and they live in Palmyra NY with Rick's service dog, Cooper.


David

Served 9 years in the U.S. Army
Certified Service Disabled Veteran

David Carr served in the U.S. Army for nine years, from Oct of 2005 to Dec 2013. He was deployed three times to war zones including Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait.

Iraq: Primary job Combat Engineer Stationed at Ft Hood Texas Construction, Convoy Security, Heavy Equipment Operation, and Route Clearance to build and fortified over 300 Positions. Post deployment served Common Ground System-Army [ArcGIS] and Command Post of the Future [CPOF], and Intel Work.

Afghanistan: Primary job Intel analyst. Tasked as Intel Prep of the Battlefield [IPB]), Patrol briefs, Counter-IED Workgroups and Threat Assessments, Graphical Intelligence Summaries[GRINTSUM], and daily creation of several hundred page Counter-IED presented to RC-S and RC-SW Commands and Team Leader. Route Clearance duties spanned from the North at Tarin Kot(Uruzgan Province), East to Zabul, West to Marjeh(Helmand Province), and South to Spin Buldak. Supporting training counterparts including Afghan Military and Police Forces. Post deployment served as a mechanized Team Leader for Bradley fighting vehicles. Successfully completed Bradley Master Gunner course for which 148 people attempted, and only 13 graduated. Appointed BN Master Gunner for 3rd ID 3 BSB to secure land/ammo allocation, training area allotment, ran gunnery and rifle ranges along with other Squad Leader responsibilities.

Kuwait: Deployed to Camp Buering to train Jordanian Troops, running the gunnery ranges, and designing training exercises for all personnel from Ground Troops to Air Support and Artillery. Post deployment continued BN Master Gunner responsibilities until ETS in Dec 2013

After honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, earned a Bachelor of Science degree with dual focus: Botany and as licensed Pilot trained to fly helicopter. Speaks Spanish and Dutch.


Elizabeth

Served at the U.S. Pentagon as civilian Dept. of Defense employee, GS-15
Elizabeth [Betty] Carr served the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization [JIEDDO], as the agency's sole "Boots of the Ground" Technology Scout. Elizabeth was tasked to help expedite discovery of disruptive technology and new innovation used to defeat IED's. She is credited for helping to reduce turnaround time from Years/Decades to Hours/Days. In 1998 Elizabeth founded a new start-up, Laird Industries, Inc. to manufacture electronic and mechanical assemblies for military agencies as a Tier One Prime Defense Contractor, ISO-9001 compliant. Prior to forming the manufacturing firm, she supported manufacturing clients throughout the NE, helping them win military contracts. Throughout Elizabeth's career, she was involved in new product development for military end-users. Early in her career, Elizabeth helped support the design and delivery of the first wearable computer for CECOM, U.S. Army Electronics Command, Fort Monmouth NJ. Having attended the Defense Acquisition University, Elizabeth's strength combines classroom theory with hands-on product development and manufacturing experience as an independent small business owner. Elizabeth graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. Elizabeth is married to Rick Carr and they live in Palmyra NY with Rick's service dog, Cooper.
